Letter: Join the Yes on L Coalition | Letters to the Editor
Measure L has won the support of a broad coalition. Sure, it’s backed by fire experts like Napa Firewise, the Fire Safe Councils, and CalFire Local 2881. But the support extends much further and deeper into the community, as you’ll see in the listings below. groups and leaders who approved. It is perhaps unprecedented that all these different people have come together in a common cause here in Napa.
The main support groups are: Napa Vision 2050, Napa County Farm Bureau, Napa Climate Now!, Napa Valley Vintners, Growers and Vintners for Responsible Agriculture, Democrats of Napa Valley, Winegrowers of Napa County, Napa Valley Grapegrowers, Friends of the Napa River, Land Trust of Napa County, local chambers of commerce, St. Helena Hospital Foundation, and the North Bay Association of Realtors.
Key leaders who have expressed their support include Congressman Mike Thompson, Senator Bill Dodd, Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, Mayor of Calistoga Chris Canning, Mayor of St. Helena Geoff Ellsworth, Mayor of Yountville John Dunbar and American Canyon Mayor Leon Garcia.

Again, it’s rare here in Napa to see all the different people above supporting one thing. After studying the problem and the measure, they say yes to measure L. They know that we need to do more to protect ourselves from forest fires and that we need a local source of income to do so. Local budgets are under severe strain. State and federal grants are possible, but they are sporadic and unreliable. This new pot of local money will ensure that the critical work ahead takes place every year.
Please join our coalition and your community by voting Yes on Mesure L.
